Side-by-Side Candidate Comparison in the Riding of St. Albert - Sturgeon River

In June 2021, this MP rightly voted in favour of pro-life Bill C-233, introduced by Conservative MP Cathay Wagantall, to outlaw the horrific practice of sex-selective abortion, in which unborn babies are killed for no other reason than their sex.

Also in June 2021, this principled MP voted against Justin Trudeau’s parental prosecution bill, C-6, which seeks to put parents in jail up to 5 years if they dare to affirm their gender-confused child in their biological sex.

Cooper has been actively involved in the pro-life movement for many years and was known to CLC leaders prior to getting elected as an MP. His voting record in parliament has been generally good, with exceptions like his anti-family vote in support of Justin Trudeau's transgender ideology bill, C-16 (see Votes tab).

CLC was disappointed to see this pro-life MP endorse the pro-abortion, 2020 Conservative Leadership candidate Peter MacKay, especially when there were two strong pro-life candidates in the race, MP Derek Sloan and Dr. Leslyn Lewis, behind whom all pro-lifers needed to rally.

Mr. Willerton gave perfect answers to CLC's 2019 federal election questionnaire. He ran previously in Alberta as an Independent candidate in the provincial riding of Airdrie. At that time, a source on community news, Discover Airdrie, stated that Willerton was in favour of a provincial referendum on capital punishment and the funding of abortion.

In response to CLC's survey, she expressed a fair bit of personal dislike for the practice of abortion. However, she also seemed to express concern about being able to challenge abortion given it is legally permitted by the government to take place.

Official Liberal party position is pro-abortion & pro-LGBT ideology. In fact, Justin Trudeau's candidate selection process, instituted May 7, 2014, forbids any pro-life Canadians from running as Liberal Party candidates. The only way they would be allowed to run, is if they promise to vote in favour of abortion whenever such legislation comes up.
